Progress Update - 5th May to 11th May
During this week our aim was to perform various tests on our sensor.
We started off by simply putting a hand above the sensor to see if it detected it. The firs thing we noticed was that distance of detection reached up to approximately 1 meter.
To solve this problem we opted to limit that distance to 40 cm through an app that was compatible with the radar sensor.
Then we performed another test where we would put a invisible object between the hand and the sensor. The result was a success since the sensor still detected the hand and not the object.
Another problem was that, since the angle of detection was 120 degrees, our sensor could detect cars that were occupying the adjacent parking slot, being a "false positive". To solve that we covered the lateral parts of the sensor cover with aluminium. Then we tested and it was successful.
