About us
Welcome to IntelliPark! We're a group of Electric and Computer Engineering students, in Instituto Superior Técnico (IST). This project is dedicated to develop a solution to simplify urban parking. With three years of engineering study, we're focused on combining the knowledge we've learned so far to develop a wireless solution to detect a parked vehicle in a parking spot.
IntelliPark is our 1st Cycle Integrated Project in Electrical and Computer Engineering, the last step in our first cycle of studies. In IntelliPark we will aplly to a real world scenario the knowledge we've learned throughout the past 3 years.
Through our innovative prototype and informative blog, we share our knowledge and experience with our colleagues, teachers, and public at large, while also working to implement this solution.
The solution will be a sensor in each parking spot detecting if
the spot is taken or not. The sensor will use a battery with a life
expectancy of 1 to 5 years. It will be needed to remove or make
a small hole to insert the sensor and then it will be again
covered . This way we can analyze the parking spots one by
one not being conditioned to a specific number of parking spots
neither their shape. The value of the sensor is accessible costing around 40€. An application will be available to monitor de status of
current parking spots.
We plan to develop a prototype that will serve as a proof of concept, using the means available to us, as IST students. We will also detail how our solution is possible to implement at a large scale and at a low cost, and requiring low maintenance.
